Less than eight years after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico causing one of the worst environmental disasters the world has ever seen, President Trump has signed an executive order to allow even more offshore drilling that could affect Florida.
Drilling off of the eastern U.S. coast poses a direct threat to Florida's economy and environment – not to mention the vital military testing and training that takes place off our shores. And in 2010, we saw firsthand how an oil spill can drift to Florida.
That's why I've been fighting to keep oil rigs away from our coast. And right now, I need your help: Will you add your name to tell President Trump to keep oil drilling away from our coast?
The 2010 BP oil spill showed us all what's at stake. Florida's sugary white beaches turned black. Tourists stayed away. Our economy, environment and hardworking Floridians took a hit.
We cannot let that happen again.
